Here are two concepts for the Winter and Spring covers of a seasonal catalog of baby products. The client finally went with the second one.

Illo Friday: Time

“Hey Mario! What the flip, don’t you have a calendar handy?”

No, no, it’s not that. I know that today’s Sunday. (… right?) I drew today’s illustration to participate in next week’s Illustration Friday. What’s that? Well, let me quote from their main and About pages: it’s “a weekly creative outlet/participatory art exhibit for illustrators and artists of all skill levels. (…) A topic is posted every Friday and then participants have all week to come up with their own interpretation. Topics are picked each week from a list of suggestions that have been emailed by participants.” Then, “one image is chosen randomly from the previous week to be displayed” on their main page, what they call their “Pick of the Week”. So it’s a challenge, but not a contest. It’s just a fun way to stimulate your creativity, to find out about other artists and to promote your work among them. I think that’s not a bad idea.

This is my first contribution drawn intentionally for the challenge (last week I presented one of my lonely kids, for the topic “Flawed”). The topic this week is “Time”:
